Cognitive Testing, Neuropsychology & Forensic Psychology Services

Services provided at NFSS include initial evaluations and second opinions for individuals ages 16 and older in the following areas:

  • Neurological conditions (e.g., dementia, stroke, epilepsy)

  • Independent Medical (Psychological/Neuropsychological) Evaluation (IME)

    Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Disability Exceptions regarding citizenship examination
  • Hardship evaluations
  • Competency (to stand trial, waive Miranda rights, and testify)
  • Sanity/mental status at the time of the act/diminished capacity

  • Capital cases (Atkins/mental retardation, sentencing, appeals, clemency)
  • Civil commitment (intake and release)

Tests that are utilized are the most current in the field. Reports are produced in a timely and expert manner, cite up-to-date relevant research, legal statutes and judicial holdings, and are written in a readily understandable language.

Additional services include records review without patient examination and presentations on various neuropsychology and forensic psychology issues, with specialty in assessment of exaggeration and feigning of mental illness and cognitive dysfunction.
